![]() MISSION The St. Julian Eymard Spiritual Life Commission seeks to bring parishioners into a deeper, more personal relationship with God, with an enriched understanding of our faith through prayer, liturgy, song and study. ROLE OF A MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION The role of a member of the Spiritual Life Commission is to embrace, articulate and support the mission of the Commission; and to have a thorough understanding of the synergies of the Ministries which make up the Spiritual Life Commission. EXPECTATIONS OF THE COMMISSION By providing communication within the various ministries of the Spiritual Life Commission and the Parish Pastoral Council we will ensure that parish liturgies are prayerful, reverent and spiritually moving experiences; provide pathways and means to improve the spiritual lives of all parishioners; evaluate the spiritual needs of the parish and coordinate developments designed to foster improvement; educate its members, and the parish at large, about the mission that the parish receives from Jesus Christ; provide proper training and formation for Ministries; and assist and shape, in an ongoing way, the evangelizing efforts of the Parish Pastoral Council. ALTAR SERVERS Altar Servers are children from the Religious Education Program who have been trained to serve at the altar. They assist the priest and deacon at Mass and other liturgical services. They are eligible to begin training in 4th grade or later. ARMED FORCES MINISTRY In light of the constant news of the effects of combat on our military personnel, we at St. Julian’s want to reach out in support and focus our prayers on our parish family who have members serving in the military, to those who have given their lives in the service of their country, and to their families, for inclusion in the Prayers of the Faithful at weekend liturgies, listed in our vestibule and in the weekly parish bulletin. Contact George Milton at 847-437-5268 or gamiltons@juno.com for further information. BIBLE STUDY The Bible Study Ministry provides opportunities to read, learn and reflect upon Holy Scriptures at both morning and evening sessions at various times during the year. The Little Rock Scripture series and the Loyola Press, as well as other scripture study sources are used as the basis for discussion. EUCHARIST MINISTERS Parishioners distribute the Eucharist to the community during weekend liturgies, holidays and feast day liturgies, as well as special and sacramental events. Training on aspects of the reverent distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ is provided. FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION/EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacramentis held at St. Julian Eymard every First Friday. Adoration begins at 9:00 a.m., immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass, and continues until 3:00 p.m. when Benediction is celebrated. Eucharistic Adoration presents a special opportunity for prayer. LECTOR MINISTRY Adults and high school students who have been Confirmed are invited to bring God’s Word to the assembly in an alive and understandable manner by participating in the Lector Ministry. Those who proclaim God’s Word in the liturgy are challenged to proclaim the Word in such a way that it is “heard for the first time.” Training and support will be provided. Contact George Milton at 847-437-5268 or gamiltons@juno.com for further information. MINISTRY COORDINATORS The Mass Coordinators are charged with organizing the people and articles needed for Mass. They prepare the hosts, wine and vessels required, as well as making sure there are enough servers, Eucharistic Ministers and gift bearers in place. MUSIC MINISTRY The music ministry creates an environment that encourages and enables the congregation to an enriched worship experience. The goal of the musician, leaders of song and choirs is to bring people closer to God through music. The ministry provides music at all weekend liturgies as well as special liturgies where adult and children choirs perform. PARISH MISSION Each year during the Lenten season St. Julian Eymard Parish offers parishioners another spiritual enrichment opportunity. Over a period of several nights a guest speaker offers new and challenging insights into our lives as Catholics in today’s challenging world. PARISH ROSARY The St. Julian Eymard parish community comes together in the church each Tuesday at 7:00 pm for a weekly rosary service. All parishioners are invited to join in this meditative prayer on the mysteries of our redemption. The intent when saying the rosary is the prayerful asking of the Blessed Mother of Jesus to intercede for us with Him for our individual or group intentions. USHERS/GREETERS Ushers welcome parishioners as they enter St. Julian Eymard Church. They help with seating and any individual needs. They collect offering, direct communion lines at Mass, wish everyone a good day and distribute bulletins at the end of the Mass. *Phone: *E-mail: Please click any of the buttons below.
